appearance: Hinata is slim, with small but round breasts and pale skin. Her fingers are long and delicate—like surgeons’ hands—and she has pretty feet, often hidden in thick, brown boots. She prefers overly large, tan jackets; they often fall to almost her thighs, and they give her a surprisingly frail appearance, although she is anything but. She often carries around a small knife, although she hardly ever uses it. It seems to be a memento more than a weapon. And people would probably be more comfortable not knowing about the various other weapons she has hidden on her body. It’s habit, really.
Her eyes are large and a strange shade of violet—almost white, really. They tend to cause unease, despite her kind smile. Her black hair is long, her bangs straight. Sometimes she wears a hat, or pulls her hood up—it helps her avoid sunburn. Around her neck she sometimes ties a long, blue-black piece of cloth, on which is a metal plate with a strange, stylized leaf on it. No one’s sure why.
Her eyes are almost eerily sharp, and her peripheral vision is unnaturally good. Nothing seems to escape her attention, even when it happens, literally, behind her back. Indeed, one could say that her eyes are not quite... human.
personality: Hinata is shy—it’s the most obvious thing about her. She blushes and stutters and fidgets, and is very good at being freakishly quiet. She seems to be drawn to louder, aggressive people, and seems to respect them, no matter how idiotic they seem to anyone else. Perhaps it’s because it doesn’t matter, then, how quiet she is—their talk chases away awkward silences.
But her smiles are sweet and kind, and she’s helpful, and people like her. Intelligent and insightful, she sometimes sees what others miss—she sees the strength inside the fool, the hurt inside the angry. She knows how to read and write very well, and is fluent in Japanese as well.
There seems to be a strange sort of strength inside Hinata, just waiting to blossom. Maybe one day she’ll become the determined, strong leader she wants to be. |
abilities/weaponry: Surprisingly, she is more a fighter than a healer—she specializes in hand-to-hand combat. The style she uses—the Gentle Fist—is one that her family has been using for generations. It is a graceful style, full of speed and deadly accuracy. The user flows with the opponent’s movement, almost as if they are dancing, and attacks are swift and often delivered to the neck, the feet and knees, the gut, the chest, and the back, so as to disable the opponent before the user gives the finishing blow. And for some strange reason, Hinata seems able to bring opponents down with a seemingly simple and harmless hit to the chest, and sometimes it is as if her hands and fingers glow blue while fighting....
weaknesses: Hinata is very trusting, and sometimes seems overly determined to look for the good in people, which makes her seem gullible and easy to manipulate. She might also be overly dependent on others for protection, and although she’s good at fighting she doesn’t like violence very much, and has a strange aversion to it.

</td>history: Hinata was born in Konoha to a very influential and powerful family—the Hyuuga. Konoha being a so-called secret ninja village (although how it remained secret while having lots of merchants dropping by and healthy trade with allies is a wonder) and the Hyuuga being a ninja clan, it was determined that Hinata would be a ninja from the very start. As Hyuuga heir, she was meant to make her family proud, and show the world (or maybe just Konoha) exactly why the Hyuuga were one of the most powerful families in the village.
So she was trained in the Gentle Fist style, and taught precise chakra control at a very early age. But as she grew up, it became clear that she was rather—well, lacking. She was shy, and she seemed unable to fully grasp the intricacies of the Gentle Fist, and she seemed weak in both personality and body. So she seemed always to fall short in her father’s eyes.
Additionally, the Hyuuga clan were divided into two—the Main family, to which Hinata belonged, and the Branch family, which were meant to protect the Main family and serve it. And one Hyuuga Neji of the Branch family seemed to hate her, and so Hinata’s self-esteem and confidence suffered.
Later, when she graduated the ninja academy, she became part of a three-man team, consisting of her, Inuzuka Kiba, and Aburame Shino, and a jounin teacher, Kurenai. They became awkward friends, and then become as close as family—or closer, considering how cold Hinata’s family was to her—as they completed various missions together. And then the team went through the chuunin exams, and everything changed.
The team passed the first two tests fairly easily. And then, in the third test, Hinata had to fight Neji. They fought in their dancing way, and Neji proved better; he verbally assaulted her, and only the jounin examiners stopped him from outright killing her. And Hinata’s crush, one Uzumaki Naruto, watched this and became angry on her behalf.
One month later, the final test took place—a sort of competition. There Neji fought Naruto, and Naruto showed Neji the error of his fate-blaming ways by beating him into the ground. Oh, and the village was attacked by Orochimaru, a deadly S-Rank criminal, and his Sand-nin allies. Hinata was sort of kind of that is to say unconscious during this whole thing, however.
But, as mentioned earlier, after the exam everything changed. Her father suddenly became more accepting; her sister became a little warmer, a little less of a competitor; and Neji, bit by bit by bit, became again the big brother he’d been before he’d started distancing himself from her. And with less pressure from the people around her, Hinata began to bloom, and become stronger and more determined and more confident in herself.
Seeking to grow more independent, and Hinata decided to leave Konoha on a training journey. She’s not sure what, exactly, she’ll find, but she’s determined that whatever happens will make her stronger, and that when she finally returns to Konoha she’ll be a woman truly fit to lead the Hyuuga family.
